spices made the world go round. to the spanish conquistadors, they
were „green gold“, for the peoples of arabia, the „fragrance of paradise“.
spices were literally worth their weight in gold. they were even
the reason behind the first round-the- world voyages by ferdinand
magellan and juan sebastián el cano.
pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves,
chilli pepper and vanilla transformed the merchants and seafarers, who were lucky enough to make it back to their home countries alive into wealthy men.
